Mid-Century 'Mushroom' Style Lamps that add a sense of playfulness

As I scroll through the likes of Pinterest & Instagram, it’s often that I spot these uniquely shaped lamps, dotted in corners of envy worthy interiors. The playful shape of a dome like head and a slender or wide brimmed stem, a shape that one might describe as similar to that of a mushroom, is definitely a trend that we are seeing right now.

Looking back, this might remind you of the Panthella lamp that was designed in 1971 by Verner Panton, this light is still a sought after design & remains to be one of the most successful and versatile domestic light even after 50 years. The plastic base, is reminiscent of the tulip shape base found at the base of an Eero Saarinen table. Wide at the bottom but narrows in, as the stem flows upwards into a steel material. This juxtaposition of materials was something Panton was known for & is an example of is innovative ways.

From brands like Nordic Nest, MENU, Normann Copenhagen, Louis Poulsen, Kavehome or Ferm Living, there are lots of lovely lamps that can add a sense of playfulness to a space. You'll spot range of materials from the implementation of marble and stone, or matte metals and also a variation of shapes from domes, triangles to ovals. Here are some of my favourites to choose from.
